Steelhead are really just rainbow trout who travel to the ocean (or in Michigan, a Great Lake) and return to river to spawn.  These fish are large, powerful and sought after by anglers across the country.  They are also exceedingly difficult to catch and even harder to being to net.  This piece celebrates the power and freedom of this large anadromous fish in Michigan waters by highlighting it's subtle but exceptional colors in watercolor.
