Looking for local? Want to support local artists and makers? The gift of art is truly timeless. Each piece is crafted by hand with an abundance of love, care, time, and intention poured into every detail. When you choose to support a local maker, your contribution goes a long way in helping them purchase more raw materials to continue creating their craft. Artists and makers may not become wealthy from their creations, but their passion and dedication to bringing beauty into the world is unwavering. By investing in the work of a local maker, you are not just buying a product – you are enabling them to infuse more beauty and creativity into our world. Below are some local makers I admire. If you have additions, feel free to email me at info@NORDmi.com
Ausable Artisan Village: In the Grayling area? You simply MUST check this gallery out. Part gallery, part pottery studio, part cultural center, part preforming space, this space (two buildings actually) supports the local community with performances, classes and workshops and over 50% of the funding for all of those things comes from the sale of art works from the gallery. Find a treasure, support a community. *disclaimer, my art is here so I'm partial.
Maggie Vandewalle: Listen, if you can't find a favorite here, you are not alone. I need ALLLLL the Maggie Vadewalle pieces. Her work is rich, detailed, heartwarming and reflects the midwestern world I live in. I wish she was my best friend, mentor and neighbor.
Randi Ford Art: If you've spent any time outdoors in Michigan, this work will resonate. Landscapes that capture the light and the motion of our incredibly diverse state. From calendars to originals, you are sure to find something you can't forget.
Rebecca Deneau: The world can be hectic and even scary some days and we all need a bit of calm. Step into Rebecca's peaceful natural world for just a moment to find some enchantment. I promise you'll go the website for a few moments and look around an hour later relaxed, refreshed and recharged.
Twisted Fish Gallery: Another gallery but such a beautifully curated collection of mostly Michigan artists. If fine art originals are what you are searching for, you absolutely will find a treasure here.
Whistling Frog Tile Company: So many treasures here. I am definitely getting a couple of the lovely ornaments. The little Newt? I need this and chances are you know someone who does as well.
