For the love of Zinnias

Zinnias are really colorful, from bright and garish to subtle pastels. They are annuals for us and need to be planted yearly. You can buy the seeds or transplants in any garden center. In most of the Midwest, flowers are hues of yellow, orange and purple this time of year. It's as if they are preparing for fall and mimicking the autumn hues.

But not Zinnias. Zinnias are pink, purple, red, yellow, white, fuchsia, lime green....and all colors in between. They can have double petals, single petals, curled petals, single stems, bunches of flowers on one stem. They can be tall, short, large or small. But mostly, they are bright, absolutely vibrant and a fantastic mood booster.
